Hey Scott,

Huge fan of Shayna Baszler but I have one critique: she has one move where she leaves her opponent's knuckles on the canvas and stops on her elbow, essentially leaving her arm fractured. Plus, she tends to do this early on in the match, leaving me wondering how I'm supposed to believe that opponent stands any chance against her, considering she's basically been crippled.

I had a similar problem with the Big Show KO punch: assuming it's legal, how the hell am I supposed to think anyone is a match for him when just his punch is a finisher. If his fists are so lethal, shouldn't his kicks be able to rip through the other guy? I get that it's his finish, but a finish should be something that is either extremely impressive (IE a tombstone or powerbomb, etc) or something that is lightning quick and thus the story of the match revolves around a wrestler trying to get it accomplished (IE: The DDT where Jake would spend the whole match ALMOST getting it on). Any time the BS has his opponent weakened he just has to punch the dude in the face and he wins.

Here's my counter to the Big Show gripe: MMA is built around dudes trying to knock each other out, but they only accomplish it a small percentage of the time, because the angle of the punch might be off or it might not hit at just the right speed or whatever. If the key was simply "Hit them really hard" then fights would all be over in 10 seconds and it would just be two guys rushing at each other looking for one punch. But we know it's not, so it's entirely plausible that Big Show just doesn't have the proper opening or opportunity to unleash the knockout punch.

Or it's wrestling, whatevs.
