WWF Wrestling Challenge – March 29th, 1992
By Brian Bayless on September 3, 2018
March 29, 1992
From the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, MS
Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan
This week, more evidence from Ric Flair. In action are Sid Justice, Natural Disasters, and Shawn Michaels. Plus, an interview with Money Inc. and more!
Roddy Piper vs. Sandy Beach
Beach grabs the IC Title belt from the ref and ends up getting kicked. Beach hammers away in the corner but Piper comes back with a sunset flip for a two count and soon after that Piper gets the win with a sleeper (1:04).
Thoughts: Quick match with some talk about the WrestleMania IC Title match and the story about Hogan possibly retiring.
WWF Special Report with Lord Alfred Hayes. Same segment we saw from “Superstars” where Ric Flair & Curt Hennig gave their press conference inside of an empty arena as Flair held up a scarf he claimed belonged to Elizabeth.
Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Lee Armstrong
The announcers talk about Jake not being able to keep The Undertaker down after hitting him with a chair 20 times. Jake slams Armstrong then stretches him out on the mat. Jake toys with Armstrong before putting him away with a DDT (2:14).
Thoughts: Some hype for the Undertaker/Jake match at WrestleMania.
The announcers plug “WBF Magazine.”
We see another vignette that shows a prison as the voice says he is another day closer of getting out and coming after Big Bossman.
Natural Disasters vs. Sonny Trout & Tommy Stevenson
The Disasters beat on Stevenson as the announcers talk about the Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania. The announcers now talk about whoever this man is that wants to come after Bossman then the Disasters get rid of Trout before hitting a pair of splashes for the win (2:23).
Thoughts: More WrestleMania hype mixed in with the announcers trying to figure out who is coming after the Big Bossman.
Gene Okerlund welcomes Money Inc. & Jimmy Hart to the interview platform. The Natural Disasters are still shown in the ring as they await the interview. Hart says that money talks and he walked into the lives of Money Inc. IRS says the Disasters made a mistake and will lose at WrestleMania as DiBiase calls out the Disasters for being dumb and fat. Okerlund believes Money Inc’s comments will come back to haunt them but IRS does not care. The Disasters then run out of the ring and chase Money Inc. & Hart backstage.
Handicap Match: Sid Justice w/ Harvey Whippleman vs. Mike Casey & Matt Burn
Sid beats the crap out of both guys as Heenan said Brutus Beefcake’s face will look like a smashed pumpkin once Sid beats him up. Sid tosses around these poor bastards then pins them both after powerbombing each man (2:43). After the match, Sid tosses one at a medic then press slams Burn over the top rope and on top of the stretcher.
Thoughts: Its fun to watch Sid destroy people as his presence remains incredible.
WrestleMania VIII Report.
Shawn Michaels w/ Sensational Sherri vs. Scott Allen
Heenan talks about Elizabeth doing her first interview this week on the Road to WrestleMania Prime Time Special and how Flair is telling the truth. We hear from El Matador in an insert promo as he calls out Shawn for looking too far ahead at an Intercontinental Title and not focusing on his match at WrestleMania. Shawn beats on Allen then looks into the camera and talks trash. Shawn hits a super kick as Heenan mentions this Prime Time Special being a Hulk Hogan tribute as Shawn hits a teardrop suplex for the win (2:26).
Thoughts: They used this to hype up the Road to WrestleMania special as Heenan broke the news that it will be a tribute to Hogan. We also had some hype for the Matador/Michaels match at WrestleMania.
Mike McGuirk alerts us that Shawn Michaels has left the building.
Next week in action are the Nasty Boys, Bret Hart, and The Undertaker. Plus, an interview with Ric Flair. The show ends with a video montage of Hogan to hype up his tribute.
Final Thoughts: The only thing different from Superstars on this show was the fact they plugged the Road to WrestleMania special and mentioned it would be a tribute to Hogan. Interesting due to the sudden retirement talk on TV. Anyway, we are just one week away from WrestleMania.
