Elias Comparisons

Hey Scott,

I'm liking Elias more and more by the week, but I'm just uncertain where he goes long term. Who would you compare him to? I've had a few thoughts running around in my brain, and I'll play a few angles here:

1) Chris Jericho: he's golden on the mic and only getting better; his in ring performance isn't outstanding at this stage in his career but has improved and can continue to do so; he can be a reliable performer as a heel or face for years to come

2) Bray Wyatt: he's got the crowd behind him, but it will never go anywhere tangible and he'll still be doing this same gimmick in 4 years to yawns from the crowd

3) The Honky Tonk Man: he plays a mean guitar, is a great heel, has his limitations in the ring and will just be a mid-card comedy act

4) The Rock: all of that charisma will spill over into his in-ring ability and he'll be a box office smash in 20 years

5) Jeff Jarrett: he's not really that good at all, more annoying than anything else, but he'll somehow find a way in the wrestling world for the next 30 years, like it or not

I'm leaning more to Chris, and hoping it's not Bray. Your call?

Were I to guess, I'd lean towards Bray. Jericho could survive a lot of gimmick changes and downtime by having great matches, but Elias doesn't have that many tricks in his bag yet. He's really someone that would benefit so, so much from leaving for a while and learning other styles, like Drew McIntyre did. Plus the gimmick is such easy heat that you can introduce him again in 5 seconds when he's needed. But as it stands, much like Bray, once fans see the act a few times, they'll be over it, and then he's got nothing for a backup.
