Changing Your Mind
By Scott Keith on August 8, 2018
Hey Scott.
With the network, have you re-watched content and done a complete 180 from when you originally saw stuff for the first time?
1997 stands out for me. I was in high school at the time and thought WCW was the greatest thing in the world. Re-visiting this stuff makes me think RAW was the better show (around the Bret turn) and Nitro appeared to be a bit of a mess.
But I'm 20 years older now and I also know where the companies would be years later.
I guess my questions are…
1. Does most stuff stand the test of time?
2. As you get older, have your preferences changed?
3. Does hindsight play a part in your current opinion?
I like Nitro a lot more now than I did at the time, but you can really start to see it fall apart as it goes. Those 95 shows in particular were fun and snappy. As many many people on the blog will attest (and frequently do point out), I've mellowed and changed my preferences a lot as the years have gone by. One good example is stuff like the point system, where I can more easily find redeeming value in what would normally be low quality shows. Plus what I do now is even more fueled by nostalgia than ever, which you could probably figure out by me posting reviews of three different eras of RAW at the same time.
