Hard WWF Rings
By Scott Keith on July 15, 2018
Hey Scott,
Why did WWF have Hard Rings back in the day? I get that there were bigger guys in the ’70s and ’80s but wouldn’t it still ruin you to repeatedly get slammed on a hard mat?
What was the benefit?
It’s not that there was a benefit, it was more that promoters would just re-use whatever rings were provided for boxing matches because it was cheaper that way, and therefore they would tend to be build harder because boxers aren’t taking bumps on them. It wasn’t until WWF really exploded in the 80s that they started actually carrying around a convoy of equipment like their own rings and lighting rigs.
