WWF Wrestling Challenge – November 10th, 1991

By Brian Bayless on June 24, 2018

November 10, 1991

From the Hara Arena in Dayton, OH

Your announcers are Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan. We also hear the same comments from Sid Justice that we heard from Superstars.

In action this week are Undertaker vs. Texas Tornado, Big Bossman, and the debut of the Repo Man. Plus, Ric Flair’s Survivor Series team as guest on the “Barber Shop” and more!

Legion of Doom vs. Barry Horowitz & Ben Jordan

The LoD hit stereo press slams then beat on Horowitz. We hear from the Natural Disasters as they talk about Sid Justice being ruled out of their match at Survivor Series as they promise to destroy LoD. Jordan is in and gets drilled with a dropkick from Animal then the Doomsday Device gets the win (2:07).

Thoughts: Hype for the LoD/Disasters feud and more talk about Sid not being able to compete at the Survivor Series. And another thing, Jordan and Horowitz would be involved in a feud for the GWF Light Heavyweight Title just a few months later.

WWF Special Report with Lord Alfred Hayes. Clips of Mountie shocking Bret Hart last week on Superstars then we hear from Bret, saying he will give Mountie a title shot but that the Mountie will be the one in for a shock. Yeah!

The Berzerker w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Brad Kramer

Berzerker beats on Kramer then tosses him outside and tells Fuji they are taking over the world as Berzerker racks up another countout win (1:51)

Thoughts: The same as every other Berzerker match we’ve seen on TV.

Sgt. Slaughter promo in front of the Statue of Liberty airs.

Big Bossman vs. Montana Miller

Gorilla says Slaughter is sincere but Heenan is not impressed. Bossman wears a leather jacket to the ring. Bossman takes control early then puts Miller away with a sidewalk slam as Gorilla suggests that might happen to IRS at Survivor Series (1:17).

Thoughts: Bossman now wears a leather jacket to the ring as his feud against IRS continues.

Barber Shop with guests Ric Flair, Ted DiBiase w/ Sensational Sherri, Warlord w/ Harvey Whippleman, and Jimmy Hart. The Mountie is not available I guess. We get generic promos from everyone to hype up the Survivor Series. A complete waste of Flair, who came off as anything but a big deal.

Rock Werner vs. Repo Man

Heenan lists off his guests on Prime Time as Repo Man beats on Werner. Repo Man then works the knee and grapevines the leg for the win (1:32). After the match, Repo Man hog ties Werner with his rope then hangs him by his feet on the ropes.

Thoughts: We now have another gimmick that involves tying up or attacking a wrestler after the match. The look of Repo Man is dumb and its quite easy for fans watching to realize this was the same guy who portrayed Smash in Demolition.

Survivor Series Report with Gene Okerlund. Neidhart not listed as a question mark to appear on this show as they saved the news of his attack for next week.

The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer vs. Texas Tornado

Hogan’s casket is at ringside. Bearer keeps messing with Tornado and that allows Undertaker to attack. Tornado breaks a chokehold then fires away. Undertaker lands on his feet after getting knocked outside then Tornado chases Bearer around the ring. Bearer provides another distraction as Undertaker takes control. Undertaker rolls Tornado back inside and hits the tombstone for the win (3:42) 1/2*.

Thoughts: It was good to see Undertaker defeat an established guy on TV but at this point Tornado was really a disaster in the ring.

Next week in action are El Matador, Skinner, and the featured match of IRS & Ted DiBiase vs. The Bushwhackers. We hear from comments of those involved in the featured match. Plus, an interview with Randy Savage & Elizabeth.

Final Thoughts: Undertaker won the featured match but the other exclusive segment was a waste of time Barber Shop segment. We are just over two weeks away until the Survivor Series.
