The WWE once again pandering to the gay mafia by their treatment of AJ styles

Given AJ style well known but LEGAL views on gay marriage, is the current storyline where he gets kicked in the testicles just another way for the WWE to pander to the LGBT lobby?
I feel like re-hiring Darren Young, or pushing Sonya Deville, would be a more effective way to “pander” to that group.
