Andre documentary

Scott- watched the Andre doc tonight and while it's excellent, a couple of things struck me as odd:

1) hogan mapped out the entire match on a notepad? Really?

2) Andre had to know hogan was going over from the moment Vince proposed it didn't he?

3) they act like there was no backup plan as they talk about his health but even Meltzer agrees the entire match was built around Andre's limits and the risk was small…they were obviously right but wasn't there a backup?

4) jeez does everyone end up hating Vince in the end?

5) they talk about Andre going downhill after mania 3 but he was still a pretty big draw as a heel until they fed him to warrior wasn't he?

6) he hated Savage and Studd…but he liked hogan of course

1. Yeah, and then they had the nerve to give Randy Savage shit about planning HIS match out. Bunch of middle school bullshit.

2. Yes. Andre knew from the moment that Vince called him with the match idea. That was the entire point of the match.

3. Paul Orndorff was always the backup plan. That's why he didn't have a match but he was still backstage for the show with his gear.

4. Vince is a complicated guy.

5. I wouldn't say so. He literally didn't work another singles match until the rematch at the Main Event, and even then didn't do much outside of Japan. The Savage program drew decently but it's not like putting Andre's name on the marquee was any kind of guaranteed sellout unless it was something really special like Hogan as an opponent.

6. Well, lots of people loved Hogan as long as they were making money off him.
