Cena/Taker NOT Happening?
By Scott Keith on March 31, 2018
This Monday, you get Angle pestering Braun about his mystery partner all show, maybe with some (mostly comedy) vignettes of various wrestlers then trying to win Braun over. In the final segment, Cena comes out for his final challenge towards Undertaker and there’s still no response, except Strowman unexpectedly shows up to offer Cena a “path to Wrestlemania” as his partner against the Bar. Cena is on the fence about accepting before the Bar run in to attack them, Cena/Braun fend them off, and the decision is made.
At Mania, Braun and Cena win via DQ. Later on the Mania card, it’s time for KO/Sami vs. Shane/Bryan. Shane announces he can’t compete due to injury but there’s a replacement — Taker’s gong goes off and the building goes nuts. Taker and Bryan win, Sami and KO are hired by the new heel Raw GM once Angle is fired, everyone is happy…
…except Cena, who comes out and gets in Undertaker’s face. Taker no-sells it entirely but then Cena presses the issue with an AA.
Next night on Raw, Cena issues another challenge to Taker for Wrestlemania 35. Taker shows up to accept with a chokeslam, and next year’s main event is set. There is a heavy implication that this will indeed be Taker’s last match, to bring in fans wanting to see Undertaker one final time.
Great, we get to watch Cena being a complete dick to the Undertaker for ANOTHER year. Fabulous.
I’m gonna say “hard pass” to this idea.
