WWE on Fox
By Scott Keith on March 9, 2018
The speculation is if Fox acquires WWE programming that Raw will be on the network and Smackdown on FS1. But wouldn't it make more sense the other way around?Raw on FOX would mean a hard two-hour show, no overruns. Affiliates aren't going to give up their late news timeslot. Also, hasn't history proven time and time again that wrestling fans don't stay with the channel after the show's over?A Friday night time slot, which is already a dead slot for TV, wouldn't anger the affiliates and would save Raw for FS1, which would love to have 3 million viewers to boost their numbers even if they don't stick around to enjoy the rest of their fine, quality programming.
Just to be clear here, you're thinking that FOX is going to pay $400 million for WWE programming and then put it on FS1? And Vince is going to be OK with that?
If RAW goes to FOX in prime time on Monday, Vince McMahon will need to literally buy a giant vault for his money so he can swim in it like Scrooge McDuck. You know who wants three hours and overruns? USA. You know who doesn't? Vince and everyone else in the world.
