Hey Scott, hope all is well. Are we wrong? We can all agree for the most part that WWE is boring and Raw and Smackdown are snoozefests. We complain about poor booking, match quality, characters, etc. Yet, WWE is making money hand over fist, Fox maybe offering network deals, etc. What am I missing?
Also, do you think AOP challenges Sheamus and Cesaro at Wrestlemania?
They're making money because they managed to sign a giant TV deal and then diversify their revenue streams to the point where all the stuff that traditionally makes money in wrestling is no longer a factor. PPV is no longer the moneymaker, so TV no longer has to build towards it. House shows are just a thing they do to practice matches and make extra merch for the guys. The WWE Network is a guaranteed monthly revenue that replaces PPV, so it doesn't matter if people are particularly interested in one show or the next. Although while you can say they're “making money hand over fist”, they're also spending money hand over fist so profits are not as big as you'd think. They have to employ a LOT of people to fill those hours of TV time.
As for the Bar, I have no idea what this is supposed to be building towards. Knowing this company, it'll be a 17-way tag title match with all the geeks they've already beaten because whatever the original plan is fell through. I don't think it's AOP, though. I think they would have been called up already if they were going to any time soon.
