Booking Asuka/Rousey

Hey Scott,

You’re probably getting a slew of e-mails on this. Fingers crossed I’m the first.

Anyway, the obvious route to go with Rousey is against Asuka. However, I hope they don’t jump the gun on this. In fact, since Rousey is full-time, I say take advantage of that. So, here’s how I’d book it:

-Both women challenge for each of the women’s titles this year and decisively win. Maybe tease a meeting of the champions here during one’s celebration.

-Let each of them dominate their respective show, undefeated, for a whole year. One on RAW, one on Smackdown (take your pick which is which). NEVER have them meet during this period, not even if they do another Smackdown vs RAW angle.

-Assuming we get another women’s Rumble next year (they kinda blew their load on surprises tonight, so I don’t know if they could top it), they finally meet in a Hogan/Warrior style spot.

-Build to a one-on-one, champion-vs-champion match at 2019’s WrestleMania.

Well, according to the last Observer, current Wrestlemania plan is Asuka v. Charlotte for the Smackdown title and Nia Jax v. Bliss on the RAW side, so you might get your wish. Really though, everything with Rousey depends on her movie schedule, and any appeal she holds is going to be for the mainstream media and not necessarily for wrestling fans. So they don't even need to necessarily have her be a "pro wrestler" and work towards the title and all that stuff.
