Which Alternate Personna would have worked best in their debut

Many of the top WWF/WWE Superstars wound up changing their personas after their debut.

But if they had debuted with what they morphed into which one would have worked best?

Austin – instead of debuting as Ringmaster, comes in as the Stone Cold character that became a huge star

The Rock- instead of coming in as Rocky Miavia, he debuts as The Rock that became his true persona.

HHH – instead of Aristocrat Hunter Hearst Helmsley – he debuts as he is today The Game, with the music and water spitting and so forth

JBL – instead of Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw, he debuts as he was when he was WWE Champion, JBL, rich guy in a limo.

Faarooq – instead of a Gladiator – as either Nation of Domination or APA beer drinker

Mankind – instead of the deranged character – the guy with the shirt and Tie and socko.

There are others too like Godfather, Mark Henry, Edge etc. Do you think those would have worked right off the bat?

Godfather, no. 1993 would have been completely the wrong time. Had he not already been those characters and debuted as Godfather in 1998, yes.

JBL wouldn't have worked at the time of his debut because Ted Dibiase was still around and it's too much of the same thing. Plus a lot of the character's effectiveness was based around the irony of a known asskicking character suddenly turning into a complete coward. Without that backstory, he's just another rich guy.

I think Stone Cold Steve Austin works the best out of the ones listed. The Ringmaster gimmick didn't provide any necessary backstory, and Austin was pretty much doing the same kind of gimmick in his ECW run, so fans were ready for him.
