Rude in 97

Hey Scott,

Quick question for you as I make my way through the Monday Night Wars on the Network.

What was the deal with Rick Rude returning to the WWF and joining DX in 97? Seemed like an odd choice to toss him into the emerging group for both sides, as post-Screw Job he jumped ship to WCW and bashed HBK and Vince for Bret's treatment. What was the story behind his addition?

​Rude's long-term goal was always making the comeback in the WWF, but the screwjob REALLY pissed him off and Rude was always a guy who let you know when you pissed him off. I always thought Rude was a cool addition to the Shawn act, especially since he was one of the biggest name free agents available at that time. ​
