Halloween Havoc questions
By Scott Keith on October 25, 2017
With Halloween right around the corner, here are a few questions regarding the WCW Classic.
- Who was most to blame for the bad match between Jake and Sting in '92, seemed like a good feud with a big bulidup but the match failed. Was it on Watts for booking the Coal Miner's Glove Match, Jake for not being motivated
to work for Watts, or just the creative who put the match together?
Jake was mostly in no condition to perform that night, as I understand it. It was all him.
- Was Hogan vs Flair in '94 the biggest match in the history of the PPV? Doesn't seem like any other match was as big. Was there ever talk that Flair would retire and go back to the WWF or was he always coming back in '95 to WCW?
That retirement was just WCW trying to phase him down for the millionth time. He was never leaving.
- When Macho Man lost to Hogan at Havoc '96, did he reach out to the WWF or was the plan always for him to return and join the NWO, and this was a way to get rid of him to make room for the Piper Feud for the rest of '96.
Savage was absolutely negotiating with Vince and so was Hogan but the money was just too much to pass up on WCW.
- Was the Yeti appearing at Havoc'95 supposed to lead to a feud vs Hogan, or was that just a 1 time thing for Halloween Havoc. Also Hogan dropping the belt to the Giant, was that always going to happen or just something that they came up with the next night
to explain the DQ?
All that shit was booked on the proverbial napkin. Hogan was handling his own creative at that point, and that's the kind of stuff you got.
