Resources for house show attendance, march sales, buy rates, etc.
By Scott Keith on August 8, 2017
Hey Scott,
Was wondering if we could have a thread to list some resources/websites for house show attendance, merchandise sales, berates, TV ratings, etc. I know those topics come up a lot and even as a long time fan I’m not sure where to go to look some of that stuff up.
Any tips?
Sure, when I’m cross-referencing stuff for the Observer Flashbacks, I primarily use four sites:
1. Jason Campbell’s Wrestling Supercards and Tournaments site, which documents exactly what you’d expect: http://prowrestlinghistory.com/supercards/index.html This is where I typically look up paid attendance, TV ratings (where applicable) and buyrates for major shows.
2. Graham Cawthon’s amazingly exhaustive History of the WWE: http://www.thehistoryofwwe.com/index2.html This is a year-by-year compilation of every show for every major promotion, with attendance and results where known.
3. Cagematch.net and profightdb.com, both of which offer searchable databases that tell you what a wrestler’s real name was, which promotions he worked for year-by-year, and which shows he appeared on.
4. Pro Wrestling Title Histories, by The Great Hisa, based on the works of Gary Will: http://www.wrestling-titles.com/home.html Again, what you’d expect. Listings for who held every belt ever and when and where.
Big props to the hard work from everyone involved in putting together and maintaining those sites!
