another wrestlemania marathon length theory
By Scott Keith on April 8, 2017
hey Scott. former IP writer and longtime blog reader here. My theory is that the length of wrestlemania and all the current PPVs is dictated by what they are charging advertisers for event sponsorship and commercials on WWE network programming. Since they own the platform and dont have to share any of the ad revenue it encourages them to try to keep as many eyes on the network’s live events for as long as they possibly can. I imagine that in their ad sales and reporting they are counting each individual person that signs in over the entire course of the live event and since live sporting event viewership commands an absurdly high ad rate they likely court advertisers with numbers that make it seem like the super bowl is happening on the network every month. all that to say I think we have KFC, Mattel, and Snickers’ ad budgets to blame for all this extra wrassling we’ve been getting
You might not be wrong. It also gives them more of a chance to be trending on Twitter or Facebook or Myspace or whatever.
