Howdy Blog O’Doomers!
Well it’s the day after Wrestlemania which means RAW is going to be silly and I have to say it’s often one of the most anticipated days in the blog because SOMETHING happens.
As for thoughts on Wrestlemania.
— Including the pre-show it was over seven hours. That’s just ridiculous and it will wear down the hottest of crowds. Orlando appeared to be up for the ultimate thrill ride but after seven hours, in what was near record high temperatures, it’s a lot to take.
— Hardy Boys return was tremendous on every level from the surprise, to the crowd to Matt’s personal look of joy with being back.
— HHH did a slightly better job with Rollins than he did putting over Reigns. No DQ helped a bit. Still with each of these matches I understand why CM Punk took the stance he did. The program will consist of the young talent generally getting beat up numerous times in the build and then being fairly dominated in the match before pulling out a win. It just doesn’t do anything for a guy 15+ years younger to give up that much hide to a dude that’s almost 50. At some point during the match Rollins (and Reigns from a year ago) should have gotten a sustained segment where they just beat his ass and he was hanging on by a thread. But they don’t get that, instead they have to sell his methodical “storytelling” offense for 20 minutes.
— One of the posters asked me how I felt about the Cena proposal and I don’t judge that stuff. If she’s happy and it was special to her that’s good enough for me because it’s a pretty personal thing. My hope is that that was just for public show and he had previously proposed to her in a moment that was private and special for both of them.
— Holy shit that ring was impressive though. Cena did not spare any expense on that one.
— Reigns-Taker was fine and it was slow by design. Reading that Reigns failed to carry Taker is tough because in reality that should have been Cena’s spot. I’m glad Taker laid down for a younger guy but that was a pretty tough task to ask of Reigns.
— That’s about it. I hate feeling like I could have used some of the matches to give me a little more because the main show was 5+ hours but there was a lot of filler in that.
— The Wrestlemania set was incredible but that ramp…oh boy that ramp…I mean that was at least 1/4 of a mile right?
Anyway, enjoy what some of you have dubbed “Smarkamania”.
KEEP IT CLEAN!
