Macho Angles

Hey Scott,

Reading you Observer reviews and some of the PtbN lists got me curious. Does anyone have a better resume than Savage when it comes to good angles – captivating, believable (ish), and well executed? Crushing Steamboat’s throat, the Mega Powers explode, retirement/reunion at WM7, out of retirement against Roberts, I had her first with Flair. I honestly don’t remember the angle with DDP but I do remember the feud being hot. And knowing Savage’s intensity and dedication to his character, is it safe to say he was the architect of most of these?

​I’d say for sure he had a ton of input. The whole DDP feud was Savage wanting to put him over, for example. The man understood his own character like no one else possibly could, which is why he was so effective even in WCW, where no one understood anyone’s character, and why he was so ineffective in 99 when he completely changed who he was supposed to be. ​
