Drugs and Vince and YOU!

By Scott Keith on February 6, 2017

From the Observer discussion today…

" If the media pressure doesn’t stop soon, the situation is going to get much, MUCH worse for Vince." it’s kind of amazing that Vince ended up beating the rap in the end.

Not so amazing when you consider how inept the prosecution was. Basically they were trying for an "all or nothing" approach, going for massive distribution charges instead of just minor things like possession and whatnot. The problem was that the evidence and charges were very limited in the specific scope of what they were offering. For example, Vince was charged with distribution in Connecticut, I think it was, but they would offer evidence of him doing that on nights when he himself and all the talent alleged to have received the drugs were working shows in Long Island, NY. But no one on the prosecution actually bothered to CHECK that sort of thing, which is mind-boggling. Basically the government was aiming way too high with the whole thing and couldn’t prove the far-reaching conspiracy they wanted to. Not to mention that their list of "key witnesses" were all bitter ex-employees with a very public grudge to air. Is Vince a horrible person who probably did all the things alleged? Of course. Could the government prove ANY of it? Not even close.

Dave covers it in detail in the years coming up, of course, and the court transcripts eventually came out as well. It’s all really fascinating stuff to read how badly the government bungled what should have been a slam dunk case.
