Coliseum videos on the WWE Network
By Scott Keith on February 4, 2017
I’m sure this has been brought up before, but is there any reason why the WWE hasn’t uploaded a bunch of the old Coliseum videos onto the Network? And I’m not just talking about the matches. I’d want all the corny Lord Alfred Hayes and Sean Mooney bumpers on there too. There are a lot of rare, good matches on these old tapes. They could even use the original VHS cover art as their display and many older fans may go "oh yeah I remember that one" and watch them again.
Is there any legal issues since it was an outside company that helped produce these old tapes? Like would they have to bleep out the words "Coliseum Video" and even blur its banner? They would say it a lot, even in the commentary for the matches. Is this a main reason or does this fall into the category of "something they’ll get to eventually?"
….Not to mention there are probably a bunch of Dino Bravo matches on these things. I was told you are a fan of his.
That is ALTERNATIVE FACTS and FAKE NEWS.
I really like the idea of using the Coliseum covers as Network teasers. They do the same thing with PPV posters as it is. As for the rights, they own all of it and always have. The full Coliseum videos were broadcast on both the WWE 24/7 service as well as the online Legacy service in various forms, so they’re all there. And when the WWE Network launched, they made vague promises of putting them on the Network as well. Plus most of them are already digitized from the 24/7 versions anyway! So it likely falls under "something they’ll get to".
