Cable Access wrestling show from Portland/Vancouver
By Scott Keith on February 1, 2017
Hey Scott,
My best friend Bryan Bennett recently passed away, so I’ve uploaded the cable access wrestling show he and I produced in the 1990s that aired in Portland/Vancouver. After reading your Observer recap about Don Owen’s promotion getting shut down, I’ve also started uploading the episodes of Portland Wrestling that we produced in 2000.
The cable access show was called "The Squared Circle’s Greatest Matches" and initially started airing matches in 1993 from Sandy Barr’s promotion after Owen’s promotion folded. As you know, WWF stopped coming to Oregon around that time so fans in the Northwest were deprived of live wrestling for nearly a decade. Thanks to Bryan’s friendship with Playboy Buddy Rose, we were able to get WWF’s permission to air their matches (the other stuff like NWA, ECW and WCW kinda just flew under the radar).
Many episodes had a theme, like Rarities (some of which have matches still not on the WWE Network) and Best of the Worst, which could be considered the precursor to Wrestlecrap.
