A couple Flair questions for the blog
By Scott Keith on January 28, 2017
Hi Scott,
1) I was listening to an OVP podcast and they were talking about Flair at SummerSlam 92 and how the Savage/Warrior rematch could have easily stood on its own with no other angle. That begs the question, what would Flair do at the event since there was no other face? It got me to thinking, could there have been any possibility of Hogan coming back "for one night only" to challenge Flair? There’s no concern about "drawing" since it was an already stacked card in England where the fans are rabid. SummerSlam 92 was great as is but a triple main event would have blown everyone’s mind and put a great cap on the "Hulkamania era"
2) Was there ever talk about giving Flair one more World title reign in WWE? I remember him having a few title matches but they never pulled the trigger. Maybe he was considered a joke by that point but he could still go and I think they missed the boat on a great feel good story.
1. I would have done Flair v. Undertaker, since Taker was just doing the stupid Kamala feud anyway and it was a totally fresh matchup at the time. I suppose there was a chance of Hogan coming back for one match (especially since Summerslam was the first non-Hogan PPV they ever did and the buyrate PLUMMETED) but he probably would have tried to get the belt back by the end of the night and we would have been screwed.
2. Nah, there was never any serious talk about it. Might have been interesting, but Vince had a story in mind for Flair and stuck to it.
