Jeff Jarrett and WWE
By Scott Keith on January 27, 2017
Scott,
In your opinion did Jeff Jarrett do anything wrong by asking Vince McMahon for the money he was owed before he would do the Pay-Per-View?
In other words, is Vince justified at all for putting him on the “blacklist” of talent who will probably never be allowed back into the company or mentioned again?
I think Vince probably would have got over that if there was money to be made with Jeff somehow, but running opposition to him with TNA was pretty much the nail in his coffin more than anything.
As to whether he was right or not, it’s tricky. He was doing them a favor by working without a contract when he could have legally and rightfully turned up on WCW TV with the IC title had he wanted, but PPV payouts took up to 3 months for the company to see any money from them, so legally speaking Jarrett wasn’t entitled to that money around Christmas. And who knows if Vince ever would have paid him that money later on, or would have just "lost" the paperwork. So I’d say yes, he was mostly justified in his actions, but he probably should have known that he was burning that bridge at the point he did it. Frankly anyone jumping TO WCW at that point got what they deserved anyway.
