WWE and Football Management Style

By Scott Keith on January 24, 2017

By football, I mean soccer.

Since WWE is the big club, why doesn’t it loan out some of its underused talent and even NXT guys to other promotions, similar to how large soccer clubs do? Keep the guys fresh in the ring, maybe allow them to try out a new gimmick.

Especially the lower NXT guys could benefit from live crowds and wrestling guys more their level. WWE could get a percentage of the appearance fee or something but then that would mean they are employees instead of independent contractors right?

Yeah, and what REALLY bugs now is that they’re immediately doing the exact opposite, severely restricting the bookings of the British guys who got over in the UK tournament and pulling them from shows where they could be getting work and exposure and having them essentially sit around now. Not to mention the NXT guys, who get "trained" in classes of 60 or 70 at a time and now barely get time to figure out how to cut a promo before they’re thrown on TV to bolster the decimated NXT roster.

Back in the early 90s, Vince was actually open to sending guys in the lower card like Koko B. Ware and the Orient Express around to non-TV promotions and Memphis in order to give them work when he wasn’t using them. Now they’re becoming WCW where it’s essentially "Fuck it, just pay JTG his contract and let him sit at home".
