Honky Tonk Man winning IC Title / Butch Reed

Log time reader first time emailer….really enjoy the blog. Helps me pass the midnight shift. Quick question regarding HTM V. Steamboat. I was doing some reading tonight and came across a story posted from another blog regarding "The no-show that changed wwe history" https://ringthedamnbell.wordpress.com/2014/06/04/the-no-show-that-changed-wwe-history/ As urban legend says Butch Reed no-showed the event so Honky got the match. After reading the story I decided to watch the match and that match linked me to a celebration video back in the locker room. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urCN9oKcmZ4 Now if you watch the scene in the locker room closely – is that not Butch Reed in the background celebrating with HTM?? Did they possibly shoot this video after the fact? Just curious in your opinion if this video debunks the urban legend? Thanks for you time and look forward to reading your blog each and every day.

​Yes, that’s definitely just an urban legend. It was more "Vince was thinking Butch Reed but then Honky plead his case and got the title". Not to mention Reed wrestled a couple of nights later on a house show, and if he had no-showed something as important as his own title win he’d be buried six feet under and/or fired. Honky is always more than happy to talk about himself in shoot interviews and he’s told the story many times now to clarify things.​
