NWO vs. WON HOF
By Scott Keith on December 16, 2016
Hi Scott.
Jokes about Hair Flips, Quads and Laziness aside, don’t you think it’s high time (pun not intended) that Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, deserve to be in the WON HOF (Hell Bischoff too, for that matter)?
These 3 were the catalyst for revitalization of wrestling. The NWO was a national phenomenon, which would have never occurred with those 3 men.
Besides this, Scott Hall was involved in the ladder match that changed the industry, Bischoff was also responsible for the emergence of the cruiserweights in North American (another factor that is still being felt to this day. One could argue that Eddy, Jericho and Mysterio wouldn’t have made it to the WON HOF if Bischoff hadn’t given them their first national exposure.) and Nash held the world title for a friggin’ year (I know, lowest drawing champ and all for still).
The WON Hall is based on a combination of drawing power, in ring ability, influence, and length of career. If you look at Bischoff, he was influential for a short period of time (95-98) but also was mostly responsible for completely tanking the company at the end of that run and then never had another run in the business anywhere near that. Could you make a case that the success of WCW in that time was worthy enough for induction? Maybe. I wouldn’t, but there’s a case.
Nash really doesn’t tick any of the boxes. He wasn’t good in the ring, didn’t have longevity in the business, definitely didn’t draw, and didn’t really influence anyone. OK, he was a founding member of the nWo. And? 17 failed pushes and one home run isn’t exactly Hall of Fame numbers. Same with Scott Hall.
But hey, people are free to make a case for them if I’m out to lunch on it.
