Blading

By Scott Keith on October 31, 2016

I know blading is kind of disgusting, but do you think the lack of blood hampers the storytelling of a Hell in the Cell match?

The Hell in the Cell PPV plays off on how unforgiving the hell in the cell structure is, but doesn’t the lack of blood contradict the whole story behind the cell?

I remember when in the 1994-96 time period, the WWF stopped blading, and the Owen-Bret match from Summerslam had no blood and I alway thought that took down the match a notch or two.

Meh, for me it would just cheapen it even more than it already is. My issue with the Cell matches now is that there’s three of them on a single show, one of which is for a title that no one really cares about between two guys who are barely even feuding. If you then throw in a bunch of blood for the sake of it, that’s just more insulting. It needs to be special, and the Cell is anything but special now. Especially when you have 40-something Shane McMahon getting thrown into the match at WM at Vince’s whim rather than due to any kind of real issue or stakes.

I mean, you can go back and watch Starrcade 85 and see blood up and down the show, but it doesn’t make THAT show any more special than it already was. After what happened to Orton at Summerslam, I’m personally fine without ever seeing blood again unless it’s legit accidental.
