Video Game Payday

Hey Scott. I’ve heard a couple of times (Big Show interview, Curt Hawkins shoot) that wrestlers were shocked at the amount of money they were given for being in a video game.


Any idea of much this payday was? I don’t understand trademarks, but are the wrestlers getting paid for their likeness/character or was it a royalty check from sales?

Lastly, do you have a favorite of the current 2K series?

​Meh, I just wait until they’re on EA Access or Xbox Gold for free and get them then. I just find the mechanics SO overdone and tedious, pretty graphics aside.

Dave’s talked about video game paydays a bit, and it’s apparently 5-6 figures depending on the guys. Not enough to replace your income, but guys are getting checks upwards of $10,000 while WWE is paying them peanuts. It’s a good gig.

Speaking of a good gig, Punk apparently made somewhere around $500,000 for UFC 203, and that doesn’t even include what he’s gonna make if the show does well on PPV. I’d get my ass beat by Mickey Gall for 2:00 and tap out for that kind of money.​
