> What was this deal? I get the rationale to move Terry Funk into singles while keeping Dory in the tag division, I applaud the carny mindset to add another Funk to trick the rubes into thinking "The Funk Brothers" might be Terry and Dory, not Dory and Jimmy Jack. But what was with the "so crazy, he wears a mask" gimmick? Even at 13, I thought it was ridiculous.

> I presume it was a rib on the Funk Brothers. If so, how was he able to keep it up when he left the WWF? It floored me to discover Jimmy Jack work as a baby face in the USWA. It shocks me no promoter ever tried to work a program with him and Terry. He would have made great cannon fodder for a heel trying to get at Terry. Or even better, they could have recreated the Bret/Owen feud, but with Terry/Jimmy Jack. "I’ll hog tie your leg out from under your, uh, leg". It would have been wrestling gold.

I’m not sure if this was written at the time we did the Flashback issue relating to it, but the Jimmy Jack Funk gimmick was originally intended for a "Hangman" Harley Race gimmick, and when Race refused they reused the gear with Jesse Barr instead.
And yeah, Jesse was a really good worker, but he was stupid enough to provoke Haku into a fight and he got his damn eye ripped out. Probably hindered his work somewhat from then on.
