Dusty collection on the network/ Billy Robinson

By Scott Keith on June 4, 2016

Hey Scott,

They announced what will be in the Dusty collection on the network. Here it is if you’re interested

AWA 10/06/1973 – Dusty Rhodes and Dick Murdoch (The Texas Outlaws) vs Don Muraco and Billy Robinson
* Championship Wrestling from Florida 05/15/1974 – Dusty Rhodes and Pak Song vs Mike and Eddie Graham
* MSG 10/24/1977 – Dusty Rhodes vs Superstar Billy Graham (Texas Death Match for the WWWF Heavyweight Championship)
* NWA 06/21/1981 – Dusty Rhodes vs Harley Race (NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match)
* Mid Atlantic Wrestling 10/29/1985 – Hard Times
* Starrcade 1985 – Dusty Rhodes vs Ric Flair (NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match)
* Mid Atlantic Wrestling 12/03/1985 – Pork and Beans
* Great American Bash 1986 – Dusty Rhodes vs Ric Flair (NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match)
* WWF 1989 – The American Dream Vignettes
* SummerSlam 1989 – Dusty Rhodes vs The Honky Tonk Man
* WrestleMania VI – Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire vs Macho King Randy Savage and Queen Sherri
* ECW Living Dangerously 2000 – Dusty Rhodes vs Steve Corino (Texas Bullrope Match)
* WCW Greed 2001 – Dusty Rhodes and Dustin Rhodes vs Ric Flair and Jeff Jarrett
* WWE Hall of Fame 2007 – Dusty Rhodes

What jumps out to me is a in his prime Billy Robinson match. Have you ever seen much of his work? I haven’t seen much but what I have from the early 70’s is so much better than other 70’s wrestling. Do you see yourself reviewing that match or have any thoughts about the other matches that weren’t previously on the network?

Thanks

This is pretty close to the same stuff that’s on the Dusty DVD, but I do find it interesting that they’re moving away from hyping their DVD collections and just putting stuff directly on the Network as standalone collections instead. That’s where I figured it would go. Pretty good set of stuff with a nice cross-section of his work, although really with Dusty you need to be more promo-heavy because in-ring was never his strong point, to say the least.

As for Robinson, I’ve seen a few matches of his from the 70s, and he always impressed me. Seemed like a very ahead-of-his-time worker.
