Friday Night’s Streets Ahead Thread

By Scott Keith on May 13, 2016

It may be Friday the 13th, but let us not forget some of the more historic things that happened on May 13 throughout history:

In 1967, Mickey Mantle hit his 500th home run.

In 1982, the Chicago Cubs became the first major league baseball team to win 8,000 games.

All the way back to 1854, the first American billiards game was played in Syracuse.

And, most importantly, in 1821, the first practical printing press was patented in the US by Samuel Rust.

So, while we prepare for a trip to Crystal Lake (also a town in Illinois where I worked for about a year and a half), we should feel free to discuss all the things that happened in history. Or… talk about how crappy your day has been. I don’t really care either way.
