Angles/matches/wrestlers you have a soft spot for
By Scott Keith on April 25, 2016
A discussion on the blog got me thinking about this. I personally have fond memories of the Akbar/Embry feud even if it wasn’t popular. Are there any feuds, angles, wrestlers etc that you look upon fondly even when the majority don’t?
I don’t know what the majority necessarily likes and doesn’t, but here’s some random stuff that was considered dumb that I always enjoyed:
– Scotty "One Punch Bingo" Flamingo and the Vinnie Vegas/DDP team acting as his backup for the boxing match with Johnny B Badd. Just inspired lunacy during a time when the booking team didn’t give a crap about overseeing their stuff.
– Sid Vicious as a heel monster in Memphis and then in 89 NWA. I was so disappointed when he was injured by Scott because I was a huge fan, and his return as a Horsemen in 1990 just wasn’t a good fit for him.
– The Brutus Beefcake v. Mr. Perfect match at Wrestlemania VI was always a favorite of mine for whatever reason. Not technically good, but just really enjoyable to watch at the time.
I’m sure you all have way more examples, though.
