Question and Plug

Scott,

1. Question – With regard to the infamous “I Quit” match between the Rock and Mankind, we’ve read Foley’s claims that the Rock went completely ‘off-script’ and bombarded him with unprotected chairshots of a much greater quantity and frequency than was originally planned. Has the Rock ever (in interview or writing) ever given his side of the story? Has he acknowledged that he got things wrong, or stated a reason that he acted so provocatively and dangerously? Alternatively, has he ever claimed that Foley was exaggerating after the fact and that he (the Rock) proceeded as planned?
2. This is non-wrestling based, but as many of the readers of the blog were the right age in the 1980s, I thought I’d mention that I was a massive fan of the ‘gamebook’ genre, and am blogging my playthrough (with numerous editorial comments on the goofier parts) of a classic martial arts / ninja series called Way of the Tiger at www.wayofthetigerblog.wordpress.com .
I don’t have specific interviews handy, but Rock has since apologized for it quite a few times and said how bad he felt about the whole thing. I think watching it in Beyond the Mat really hit him hard.
