I’m sorry to even waste your time with such a pointless question but it’s an itch I can’t scratch and I can’t find the answer anywhere.

I didn’t start watching wrestling until way after but The Hillbilly Jim/Bundy midget match from Wrestlemania III… what was the build-up to that? I’ve looked on historyofwwe but couldn’t find anything specific. Jim and his team appeared on The Snake Pit in advance but that was to build up the match but there never seemed to be any dispute to settle or grudge going on. WMIII doesn’t have a video package so I’m clueless as to how one of the oddest Mania matches came about?

​I don’t even remember a reason or buildup for the match, either. I vaguely remember reading later that it was supposed to be a different match but someone got injured or fired and they just mashed together whatever Bundy/Jim were doing with the midget match, but I really don’t remember any details. Plus, you know, it’s a midget match so who cares?​
