World Cruiserweight Championship

Judging by the talent involved, it looks like the cruiserweight series will be a tremendous success. Let’s say it’s widely popular and they decide to bring back the cruiserweight division. Do you think it would be a huge mistake to not only bring the title back to RAW/Smackdown but even it being on NXT? I can only see it be overshadowed or used as a stepping stone, no? Let’s say Sabre Jr is the NXT Cruiserweight Champion and is hugely over. You know they are going to have it drop that title to go onto being NXT Champion. It’s going to give off the same vibes as the situation in WCW and TNA.

What if they created a whole separate brand and have it be exclusive for cruisers? They certainly have the resources to do so…the talent from the tournament, TV network, taping at Full Sail, etc. They could build it the same way as NXT…hour a week and quarterly network specials. The WWE World Cruiserweight Championship would be their exclusive title and could even add Cruiserweight tag titles if things take off…which we all know it would.

You know this new brand (WWE Velocity maybe?) would become as big as NXT and would have its own chance to shine. The Cruiserweight World title could, for the first time in history, be big deal.

​Let’s just take it down a notch there, kemosabe. We haven’t even seen what’s happening with the tournament yet. Although I think NXT is getting to the point where they almost need to split off the actual developmental portion and just run HHH’s pet indy promotion with Nakamura and Balor and Joe and the cruiserweights as its own deal. They could just buy Evolve and let Daniel Bryan run it as a trainer with the not-ready-for-TV kids. Might as well at this point, they own everything else. ​
