Dungeon of Doom
By Scott Keith on March 10, 2016
Hey Scott,
I’ve been reading and enjoying your work for years and want to say thanks for being a trooper through the darkest of wrestling’s times over the years. Speaking of dark times, I got to thinking that WCW was already knee deep in stupid shit with the Dungeon of Doom, so why not fully dive into it with this scenario?
Before the nWo came out and pushed the DoD into the nether regions of Pro and Worldwide, one of the big questions was "is Lex a member… or is he really Sting’s best friend?!"
What I propose is that Sting finally gets sick of Luger’s flirting with enemy, and they brawl from the ring to the dressing room, eventually finding themselves in the actual Dungeon of Doom. Kevin Sullivan is hanging out in there stirring a cauldron when the brawlers roll in and accidentally dump it over themselves, only to awaken having switched bodies. For the next few weeks, Lex wears facepaint and uses the Stinger Splash, while Sting flexes and Torture Racks everyone.
It all escalates in a match at Halloween Havoc between them, where Evad Sullivan finds his brother’s secret cure and runs in to save the day, putting the boys back in their own bodies. A very relieved Luger makes his allegiance to Sting clear by wiping out the entire Dungeon for not fixing the situation sooner.
So, do you see this as a viable scenario playing out on WCW tv in 95/96?
They should run it today. Maybe by body switching Roman Reigns with someone who’s over they can finally get him to the top.
