Comparing Donald Trump and Roman Reigns
By Scott Keith on January 31, 2016
Hi Scott,
I’m sure you’re probably tired of answering Roman Reigns emails, but a thought popped into my head the other day.
Down here in the States, Donald Trump brazenly claimed he could shoot someone right now and not lose votes for his presidential campaign. Unfortunately, as far as his party’s primaries are concerned he may be right. There is nothing suggesting that Trump’s popularity among the Republican party is going away any time soon, at least until they decide whether or not to officially declare him their candidate.
There also appears to be nothing suggesting that Vince McMahon is going to stop trying to push Roman Reigns as the centerpiece of WWE for the next decade or so. Ratings, attendance and crowd reaction clearly aren’t influencing Vince’s opinion one iota. Assuming that Reigns truly is the well-adjusted guy he appears to be and DOESN’T shoot somebody, what do you think it would take to get Vince to have second thoughts? Career-ending injury excluded, what would it take for someone like Ambrose/Rollins/an NXT guy (Apollo Crews perhaps?) to be given a shot at being the Next Big Thing?
I dunno, we’ve already had dropping ratings and crowd revolts, I honestly don’t know what more could happen to convince them that perhaps Reigns isn’t the superstar of the future to replace John Cena. I think the problem with violent opposition is that the crowd is still REACTING, whereas if everyone just sat quietly or treated it like a Big Show match and went to get nachos, it would be a more damning indictment in Vince’s mind.
