Tyler Breeze

Scott,
As someone who looks forward to NXT every week, I was both sad and excited when Tyler Breeze got called up to the main roster. I was reminded of how I felt in high school when a band I loved started to break through the mainstream and start getting airplay. Although I remember thinking, "Please don’t start jobbing on Main Event. Please be more than that."
Lo and behold, poor Tyler Breeze is jobbing on Main Event and seems to be treated like just another geek. He’s no longer paired with Summer Rae for no explained reason, and his entrance (which is cool and different) is no longer featured. I’m sure we’ve all read that HHH viewed him as an upper card heel, Vince disagreed, and thus the push is over.
As a big fan of the guy’s NXT work – where, yes, he jobbed a lot still, but always remained over and entertaining – this was disappointing. The thing I wonder about is if the creative team is filled with former sitcom and soap opera writers, how are these storylines just dropped with no explanation? Can you imagine this shit flying on an actual show? Here’s Tyler Breeze with his girlfriend, selfie stick and VIP lounge one week – next week, that’s all gone and fuck him. That aspect of the disconnect between honest-to-God story writers and absurdly poor continuity never made sense to me.
I suspect the answer here – unsatisfying and rote though it may be – is "Vince gonna be Vince." But is there something else I’m missing?
Nope, Vince is gonna Vince. HHH was all "blah blah blah six month plan for the NXT guys" and brought him up, and Vince was all "No one’s gonna buy a short blond heel pretty boy on top, PAL!" and that was that. Because you see, if you can’t be a top guy, then you must immediately abandon all push and job to everyone on the roster and lose your girlfriend for no reason. There’s literally no middle ground anymore apparently.
But hey, Vince is gonna Vince.
