Nikita Koloff/Magnum TA question

Hi Scott, I’ve been watching all the 86 episodes of WCW up through
June so far. For months they’ve been talking about this US Title Match
between Koloff and TA that was supposed to happen on TV and then when
it was finally finally supposed to happen they did a weird bait and
switch where they stripped TA of the title for attacking Nikita at the
contract signing and cancelled the match. In fact the whole feud
seemed weirdly booked to me. Do you have any insights into it? Thanks

​The match was cancelled to vacate the title so they could do a best of seven series, which Koloff went on to win. I’m not sure what other insights there would be, though.​
