Main Problem with today’s wrestling
By Scott Keith on December 11, 2015
Scott – I think the biggest problem with the product today is they don’t build their feuds anymore. Today, they start a feud, announce a match on a PPV…and then have the match every week until the PPV. And then every week after until the next PPV and the "rematch" even though they’ve had that rematch every damn week already in every combination and permutation. Just watching a video of the Rockers breakup, and the way they built up Marty Jannetty’s return after Shawn destroyed him months earlier, the fans were going insane. That doesn’t happen anymore, because you get the blowoff to the feud the day it starts, and then again and again. I don’t even think this is a question…but man it is awful right now!
Oh yeah, the feud thing is KILLING the product. The Cena-Owens deal was a perfect example, where they had their first match and Owens won, and then they went IMMEDIATELY back to it less than a month later and negated the whole point of the win. The current Ziggler-Breeze "feud" is another one, where they’ve been trading wins for weeks now and there’s no actual story being told. At least with Brock you know win or lose he’s fucking off back to his cave for three months at minimum, but even then they went back to Brock-UT way too soon at Hell in a Cell. Or Reigns v. Sheamus…Reigns gets screwed out of the title at Survivor Series, beats Sheamus a bunch of times on TV in various tag matches, and then in their first real match it’s already a TLC match?! We’ve barely even had time to get angry about Reigns getting screwed in the first place!
Burn it all with fire.
