Theory time: The WWE knows no one wants Reigns as Champion but are still going to do it and do it on the big stage of the 2016 WM. The usual suspects of the main event mafia at the WWE don’t want to lose to Reigns as far as being a glorified lame duck champion for whatever reasons (ego, along with seeing what happened to CM Punk when he was made into a lame duck bitch champion) and the few who MIGHT be willing are too well loved by fans to allow near the belt, since fans will CHEER FOR THEM and boo Reigns and probably riot when WM comes with regards to boing Reigns in his moment of triumph.

So they give the belt to Sheamus, who for whatever reason, is willing to eat shit as a lame duck champion and job the belt to Reigns at WM 2016.

And the added bonus: five months of Sheamus as champion might piss off the audience to such a degree, that they will want anyone, INCLUDING Reigns, by the time WM comes along.

​I think you’ve giving them WAY too much credit for having any kind of a plan here. I think the endgame is Reigns v. HHH because they think he’s the lovechild of Daniel Bryan and Steve Austin or something, but other than that there’s zero forethought going on here. ​
