DO IT AGAIN, GODDAMMIT!

During Bret Hart’s 1992 Countdown/shoot video, he makes mention of a SNME taping in which Flair and Savage worked a match, after which an irate Vince McMahon intercepted them backstage and told them to go out and redo the match "the right way." Per Bret, they did as they were told, reworked the match from start to finish, and apparently enraged Vince even further, to the point that Bret implies that this incident marked the beginning of the end for Flair’s first WWF run. I was wondering if you or anyone else had any deeper insight into that match/incident. Was it a botch-fest? (Hard to imagine, considering the participants.) Or was this simply an early example of the "WWE style uber alles" mindset coming to bear? (As Flair, to my recollection, continued to work his customary NWA-esque main event style and Savage was more than malleable enough to roll with him.)
Yeah, that would be the infamous title switch taping where Flair regained the belt from Savage and Vince threw a tantrum after their first match. Flair would have been working hurt at that point, which probably caused a bunch of Vince’s issues. For what it’s worth, Meltzer gave the redone match ***1/4 in the Observer at the time and said it was "just good, not great". I think maybe Vince’s feeling was that he was paying Flair a lot of money and not getting a lot of return on the investment, but who knows with him?
