Changing Perception of Vince
By Scott Keith on October 28, 2015
Hey Scott,
Here’s a fun game: try to think of all the different ways that you have perceived Vince McMahon over the years. For example, when I first became a fan in the mid 80s, there was a short period where I just viewed McMahon as nothing but a dork announcer/ stooge. Then, of course, I became “wise” to the fact that he was the owner and promoter of the WWF, and for a while I thought he was a true carnival genius; the modern day P.T. Barnum. After that, during the steroid trials I thought he was a shady crook, but then in the mid to late 90s I actually felt sorry for him, as I thought Turner was actually going to put him out of business. Then, of course, during the Attitude Era I once again thought of him as a genius, until about 2001 when he turned into a total loon (the XFL and the botched Invasion angle). Of course now I just look at him as an old fool. Anyway, fun stuff! Hard to believe that it was all the same person all along! Were your thoughts and impressions of him over time similar or no?
Yup, with the addition of another major shift in perception in 1999. You know, when we found out he was the Higher Power. That one.
