Good Idea Bad Idea

By Scott Keith on October 19, 2015

Hello Scott,

Try this one on for size:

After the October PPV they bring back Jeff Hardy to challenge Rollins for the title at Survivor Series. Jeff wins(for a a nice surprise) and defends it against Rollins at the next PPV( in a ladder match if you like), then you have Brock take the title off him at the Royal Rumble (because of how they got it off him last year with no resolution).

Then you give him a retirement match at Wrestlemania in a tag team match against the Dudleys, even have Stacy and Lita run in for the nostalgia moment if you like…or whatever.

So you get:
The title off Rollins via an effective face…
Increased excitement and something fresh, increased ratings in the build up to Wrestlemania…
No need to mention TNA…
Not enough time (I think) for him to even get a wellness violation…
A nice send off for him and merchandise sales to replace Cena for a little while…
Great PPV matches (and you don’t have to have him wrestle more than six times if you do not want to).

This is at the very least plausible. Tell me why this is a bad idea.

He’s under contract with TNA until at least the new year, so that’s one thing. He’s also still injured and putting him in a ladder match at this point seems like suicide. Plus I just don’t see Vince putting the title on him again after the embarrassment of the last time. I don’t discount that we’ll see him one last time for a nostalgia run, but I don’t think he’s getting anywhere near the belt ever again.
