Beating Demolition’s Tag Title reign

By Scott Keith on October 19, 2015

Why has WWE never tried to beat Demoliton’s Tag Title reign of 478 days? It’s been over 26 years since that run.

The reasons I can think of are:
– They don’t care about the tag titles, which is likely. Or Vince has completely forgotten that they have tag titles which is even more likely.
– The conspiracy theory as to why Nikki beat AJ Lee’s reign was an attempt to remove AJ Lee/CM Punk from their history. You recently mentioned that Vince still has heat with Demolition, so why not have a team beat their reign then? Is it the same situation as the Diva/Woman’s Title where they consider Nikki the longest reigning Diva’s champion now, even though Moolah held the Woman’s Title for WAY longer? Maybe they don’t consider Demolition’s WWE World Tag Title reign relevant because its not in the same lineage as the WWE Tag Title’s.
– A storyline lasting 478 days is way too long for their ADD creative team to manage.
– They don’t think they can get as much social media attention from a Tag Team Revolution as they’ve tried with a Diva’s Revolution.

Well yeah, it’s not like anyone is deliberately wiping Demolition from history on a daily basis out of spite, they just don’t mention them anymore. Plus, as you noted, the lineage of the WWF tag titles actually ended when the Colons unified them, so technically it’s a different title now. But even if we’re counting them as the same, Vince doesn’t care about the tag titles and they switch way too often for anyone to dominate that long with them anyway, so I think this is one record that’s safe for good.
