Reigns/Lesnar

recently watched reigns/lesnar from mania again and it got me thinking. I was much like everyone else and completely uninterested in a match that had no storyline. During the match i started to come around when roman started to take his beating and it got me kind of thinking about the beating Mankind took in the Hell in a Cell. The man destroyed himself for the entertainment of the people and i felt like thew people respected him that much more than any storyline could do for him and allowed him to enter the championship level.


So my question is what if they just had roman lose like a man by taking and absolute destructive beating and out of respect the crowd would accept him more than they ever could shitty story wise? Or becuase well never see tacs, chairs, falling off/through cells again its really hard to sell a put your body on the line beating and it just wouldnt work this day and age.

​I think it absolutely would have worked, but they really wanted that title off Lesnar by that point. But yeah, Cena got some cred back taking that beating from Brock, and it would have been cathartic for the fans to watch the guy they resented so much getting beaten into Silly Putty by Brock and losing. Then you can rebuild him.​
