Harassing the ringside fans
By Scott Keith on September 26, 2015
Hey Scott,
Has there been a directive to talent to basically ignore people in the audience? I started watching in 1992, and it’s definitely noticeable how interaction from the ring to the audience has become much less of a thing over the last couple of decades. If yes, then I would assume this is thanks to scripts replacing adlibs as well as avoiding social media fallout?
Then again, I watch a lot less now then I used to, so maybe I’ve been missing some things. It just seems as if there is a lot more tunnel vision with the talent now, as in there’s a bubble within the bubble, if you get what I’m saying.
I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw high-fiving from the good guys or heels bantering with kids and supermarks, nothing, outside of … ah, nevermind, you’ve dealt with enough questions about that guy already this week.
Yes, they are in fact now taught to ignore the crowd and treat it like a TV show. That’s why NXT is obsessed with teaching to work to the hard camera.
