Nash/HHH – Mania 18?

Was reading Jericho’s second book the other day (brilliant read btw the Shawn Michaels/Doink story is fantastic) and was amazed about the bit where he said that there were rumours he was going to drop the title to Nash in the build up to Wrestlemania so they could do Nash/HHH.

My first thought was that it had to be just that – rumours. But thinking about it hindsight it’s plausible I guess that they wanted to do the three nWo guys against the three top WWE guys and when you factor in that Nash ended up doing nothing at the event and clique politics then maybe it was the case.

Did you ever hear anything about this?

​No, I had always thought that Jericho/HHH was set in stone after Royal Rumble, although they did cycle through a whole bunch of permutations of Nash/Hall/Hogan v. Austin/Rock​ in the planning stages. Nash was injured anyway and wasn’t going to be working there no matter what, but Nash v. HHH wouldn’t have been the worst idea in the world. I think Nash v. Austin and Hall v. HHH would have been better matchups, but really any combination of those Big Three against the nWo would have been pretty cool.
