Hi Scott-was the plan always for Randy Savage to come back when he did in 1991 or did Vince know Warrior was gone after SummerSlam and that moved things up for Savage with the wedding angle with Jake Roberts.

​In Savage’s mind, he was "retired" after Wrestlemania, which is why he let Warrior kill his finish by kicking out of five flying elbows. He got off the steroids in order to have a baby with Elizabeth (which obviously never happened) and that’s why he immediately became all skinny as an announcer. Everyone figured he’d take his time off and then get the bug again and come back at the end of the year. But as you noted, then Warrior flaked out and ​Savage got rushed back into a program with Jake and things turned out well. Either way he was coming back, though.
